Your Generosity Changes Lives

A saying attributed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ describes the one who cares for an orphan as being close to him in Paradise. (Sahih Bukhari)

Welcome to Makola Muslim Orphanage

The Makola Muslim Orphanage, a non-profit charitable institution, has been in existence since 1962. From its humble beginnings, it has grown to be one of the largest and best-run orphanages in Sri Lanka.

The orphanages are located at Makola (Anwarul Uloom Arabic School) and at Malwana (Yathama School). Both institutions are managed by qualified and experienced principals, tutorial staff and wardens, and are under the strict supervision of the Board of Trustees.

Presently, there are approximately 600 orphans resident in the orphanage, ranging from the very young to the late teens. Special wardens ensure that each child is looked after, given due attention and cared for from a young age, giving every child the opportunity to develop in a secure environment.
