Cookie Policy

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Makola Muslim Orphanage ("we", "our", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy to help you understand what is stored on your device and why.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of data stored on your device when you visit a website. Some are set directly by us, others by services we rely on, such as our payment processor.

• Session storage: cleared automatically when you close your browser
• Persistent storage: remains on your device for a set period, such as your cookie preference
• First-party: set directly by our website
• Third-party: set by services we use, such as PayHere for payments

3. Types of Cookies We Use

We keep cookie use to what the site actually needs to function and improve:

4. How We Use Cookies

Specifically, cookies and similar storage on this site are used to:

• Remember that you have already responded to the cookie banner
• Process donations securely through PayHere
• Understand overall site traffic and performance so we can improve the experience
• Keep the donation purpose (General, Sponsor a Child, Zakat, Sadaqah) selected as you fill in the form

5. How You Can Control Cookies

You are always in control of non-essential cookies on this site:

• Use the Accept or Decline buttons on the cookie banner shown on your first visit
• Clear your choice at any time through your browser settings, which will show the banner again
• Block or delete cookies entirely through your browser, see instructions below

• Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
• Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
• Safari: Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data
• Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data

6. If You Decline Cookies

Declining non-essential cookies will not stop you browsing the site or reading about our work:

• You can still browse every page, including Our Projects and MMO Media, without restriction
• Making a donation through PayHere still requires the payment cookies it sets during checkout
• We will simply not collect anonymised analytics about your visit

7. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as the site or the services it relies on change. The "Last Updated" date above shows when it was most recently revised.
